The possibility
Turn a rambling update into a clear message with the right facts and one explicit ask.
A good message makes the reader’s next step easy. Before asking for polished words, decide who is reading, what they need to know and what action you want.
- Put purpose first
- Can the reader tell why the message matters in the first sentence? Lead with the request or change.
- Keep only useful context
- Include facts the reader needs to act. Preserve uncertainties instead of polishing them away.
- Read it as yourself
- Check that the tone sounds like you and that every promise is yours to make. Approve it before sending.
